Shijinglong Ski Resort is seen on Saturday, Jan. 08, 2022 in Beijing, China. Because of the low snowfall, Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics were the first Winter Games to mostly rely on artificial snow. Experts worry that the widespread use of artificial snow will worsen the region's severe water scarcity.

Andrea Verdelli (b. 1985) is a photo and video journalist from Italy, based in Beijing, China. He mainly shoots news, editorials, and portraits. His personal work often focuses on social issues, political issues and youth in the Far East and in Greater China especially. He was awarded a Masters in Multimedia and Visual Journalism from the University of Bolton (UK) at Beijing Foreign Studies University (China) in 2017. He received a Masters in Management Engineering and Finance at Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2009. He speaks Italian, English and Mandarin Chinese .
[ NATURE & ENVIRONMENT ] A single photograph that increases the understanding and appreciation of nature and our environment. Photographers are encouraged to explore the relationship between human and nature/environment. Studio scenes that are arranged by the photographer are not eligible. Each participant is allowed to enter up to 10 images. The images must be taken in 2022.
