A soccer stampede tragedy occurred as a result of police use of tear gas following a riot following a match between Arema FC of Malang and Persebaya of Surabaya at Kanjuruhan Stadium on October 1, 2022. According to the official database, 135 people were killed and hundreds were injured.

Nam In-seok, owner of a clothing shop situated on the site where a stampede happened during Halloween festivities pays respects in the middle of the site, in Seoul, South Korea October 31, 2022. The stampede occurred as thousands of people celebrated Halloween night in the popular Itaewon nightlife district. Most victims were teenagers and people in their 20s who crowded into a narrow alley with a slope, facilitating numerous falls that hindered their passage. At least 151 deaths were confirmed with 82 people injured, 19 of them seriously.
