Mar Naw is an ethnic-Kachin photographer who started his photojournalism journey in 2012 in a local news journal by working as an intern. He joined The Myanmar Times in January 2020. Myanmar Times is read weekly by hundreds of thousands of Myanmar people and expatriates. Through its website and social media platforms, it reaches users more than 50 countries and is visited millions of times each year. He mostly covers news photos for headlines in Myanmar Times newspaper and journal in both English and Burmese version. He resigned from Myanmar Times when the company policy changed after the coup. He can’t accept presenting news style after the coup as it is according to the State Administrative council. However, he quit and continued his photojournalist life as a freelancer. He distributed photos for Reuters, DW, the Economist, AFP in the 2021 coup. He covered how soldiers and police violate people who are protesting peacefully.
