At the peak of the pandemic, most of Singapore was shut down from April 7 to June 1, 2020. During this period, most businesses, including barbershops, were closed and I had to invest in an electric hair cutter to prevent myself from looking like Tom Hank in Cast Away.
Kay-Chin Tay is a Singaporean photographer who works mainly in the documentary and photojournalistic genres. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1992 with a degree in photojournalism, and spent more than a decade in newspapers in Singapore and the US, working his way up from photographer to presentation editor. In 2010, he co-founded PLATFORM, a photography collective to promote photojournalism and documentary work in Singapore through regular talks, panels and presentations. Besides commercial and personal projects, he devotes his time to promoting photography, writing, consulting and lecturing.
